Why I love teaching

My journey with singing began at a young age. I would spend my days jotting down lyrics in my notebook and singing around the house, mimicking well-known singers and musicians. Singing brought me immense joy; it felt like magic, a beautiful way to express myself.

At the time, I believed the common myth that singers are born, not made. But then it struck me — I realized that life is too short to wait for permission to pursue what you love. All you need to do is to love music.

Adapting what I learned myself, I developed a teaching method called ‘Everybody can sing!’.

It is a step-by-step approach, starting with the basics of the musical score; it is also structured, student-centred, and outcome-oriented, focusing on achieving musical ambitions and cultivating creativity and self-expression while ensuring a disciplined and productive learning experience.

Lessons are tailored to students' needs and adapted to their pace, learning style, and proficiency level to make sure that they can get the most out of sessions.

My training at a glimpse

Vocal science is always evolving, and new light is always being shone on the incredible phenomenon which is the human voice.

My passion for all things voice and singing has led me to attend more training and workshops than I can comfortably fit on a page. Here is a small sample of my qualifications:

  • Masters in Jazz Performance at Guildhall School of Music and Drama
  • BA in Jazz Studies at Middlesex University
  • The Accent Method for Classical and Contemporary Singing, run by Linda Hutchinson
  • The Complete Level 1 & 2 Course in Estill Voice Craft at Royal Academy of Music with Anne-Marie Speed, Paul Farrington
  • Becoming a Better Music Teacher with ABRSM and Royal College of Music
  • Be a Singing Teacher (B.A.S.T) Course with Ian Davidson
  • Child Protection Awareness Certificate with the Musicians Union

I also have an Enhanced DBS (CRB) certification, and am apart of the Musicians Union.

I regularly perform in London in various projects, including my jazz band, where I sing music from ‘The Great American Songbook’, Brazilian tunes, vocalese and contemporary jazz.
